About The Seven Sisters

The Little Grand Market is designed as a community energy hub for guests to eat, drink and connect with their loved ones. In between the lively market center with chef partners and The Little Grand Bar and the spacious three-acre park lies a more intimate, inspired bar space honoring a piece of Grandview history.

The Seven Sisters bar is named after a group of seven close girlfriends from the Grandview Heights High School class of 1922, who referred to themselves as the “Pleiades” – a cluster of seven stars named for seven mythological sisters. Each member of the group had a nickname aligned with one of the Seven Sisters of Greek mythology: Sterope, Merope, Electra, Maia, Taygeta, Celaeno and Alcyone.

The group of friends consisted of twins Virginia and Dorothy Hague, Marjorie Hammond, Alleyne Higgs, Dorothy Williams, Edna Grubb and Esther Griffin. The group was inseparable, often entertaining at each other’s homes and sharing handwritten invitations, party favors and thank-you notes with each other consistent of the social benchmarks in 1922. Notably, six of the seven “sisters” went on to college after graduating from Grandview Heights High School, which was uncommon for the time.

The sisterhood of the “Pleiades” inspired Thrive Companies to create a space honoring their memory, aligned with the shared community that The Little Grand Market aims to create. The patio bar can be accessed through the market or the park and features a darker, celestial theme compared to the rest of the space. The walls are decorated with an astrological-themed mural of the sun and stars, while each of the seven pillars leading into the market features one of the sisters and their mythological nickname.

The Seven Sisters bar will feature special cocktails related to the aesthetic of the bar while offering the same chef partner options and beautiful view. This intentional bar space allows guests to enjoy The Little Grand Market in a more intimate, cozy space, perfect for date nights, solo downtime and, especially, gathering with your own close friends in memory of the Seven Sisters and their deep friendship.
